A new wind project development company, Energie Naturelle Mollendruz, has been established by the municipal organisations involved in the development of a 24 MW wind farm near the Mollendruz Pass in the Waadt canton, in the mid-west of Switzerland. Those involved in the project include Zurich municipal energy company EWZ, the parishes of Mont-la-Ville, Juriens, La Praz, Vaulion and the city of Yverdon-les-Bains. Annual output from the wind plant is expected to reach about 50 GWh, equivalent to the needs of about 10,000 households, says EWZ, but the project is unlikely to be completed before 2012.
