County of Northamptonshire to get its first wind farm
The county of Northamptonshire in the English Midlands is to get its first wind farm after Kettering Borough Council granted consent for ten turbines. The 20 MW Burton Wold wind farm is to be built by Your Energy on farmland near Burton Latimer. The company, based at Ipswich, hopes to begin construction in early September after the summer harvest. "By this time next year we are hopeful that the site will be fully operational," says Your Energy's Bill Richmond. The project is to be financed by Mistral Invest, an investment fund managed by Platina Finance. Your Energy and Mistral Invest say they will be announcing a community benefits scheme for the wind farm's neighbours, centred around reducing energy consumption through energy efficiency and energy education.
