Consent given to 10 MW project in Orkney islands
The first British wind farm planning consent of 2002 has been granted to a 10 MW project in the Orkney islands. Your Energy from Ipswich in eastern England is to build four wind turbines on the Gump of Spurness on Sanday. Power from the project and other single turbines in the area will be enough to ensure the domestic demand of the Orkney islands can be met by renewable energy. Your Energy says it is to submit two further planning applications in the first quarter of 2003.
