Eviag, a new German turbine manufacturer established in Duisburg last year, has acquired a licence to build a 2 MW machine from engineering company W2E of Rostock. A prototype unit will be installed in the autumn, with serial production slated to begin in 2011, says Eviag. The agreement allows Eviag to market the machine worldwide. The company already produces a 2.5 MW turbine, also designed by W2E and produced under a licence agreement with Fuhrländer, another German turbine supplier. Fuhrländer has exclusive rights to market licences for the 2.5 MW model and provide support to licensees, with W2E taking a share of the licence fees. Under Eviag's 2.5 MW licence agreement, it can only market the machines in France, Poland and North Africa. Chinese company A-Power, meanwhile, also has a licence to produce the 2.5 MW machine.
