Malaysian power firm eyes Cambodia’s first wind farm

Malaysian power firm Leader Energy is eyeing an entry into the wind power sector by unveiling plans for a 150MW wind farm in Cambodia.

It signed an implementation agreement with Cambodia’s ministry of mines and energy for the project in Mondulkiri province in the south-east of the country.

The wind farm is due online in 2027.

Leader Energy has experience in solar, hydropower, transmission lines, battery storage and green mobility, but the Cambodia project would be its first wind farm.

The project in Mondulkiri could also be Cambodia’s first wind farm. Singaporean developer The Blue Circle is also planning a 100MW project in Mondulkiri, but that wind farm is due online in 2029, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
