The state government of Piaui has authorised the start of testing at the 456MW Ventos do Sao Zacarias wind complex in north-east Brazil.
The complex consists of 80 of Nordex’s N163/5.7MW turbines installed in the district of Simoes.
Ventos do Sao Zacarias – a joint venture of Australian investor Macquarie Asset Management and Norwegian renewables developer Hydro Rein – developed the project. It has been built by Elecnor Brasil and Invenergy.
It is expected to achieve full commercial operations by the end of this year.
The wind farm is due to be one of the largest in Brazil.
