Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners completes 300MW Taiwan offshore wind farm ahead of schedule

Danish investment major Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has completed construction of its 300MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm in Taiwan ahead of schedule.

The offshore wind project was built as a joint venture between CIP and Taiwanese steel firm China Steel Corporation (CSC). It features 31 of Vestas' V174-9.5MW turbines.

Zhong Neng's completion follows the inauguration of CIP's 542MW Changfang and 47.5MW Xidao projects in Taiwan earlier this year.

The Zhong Neng offshore wind farm was funded by CIP through its Copenhagen Infrastructure IV fund alongside backing from CSC.

The project was completed to the “highest localisation requirements”, Mads Skovgaard Andersen, CIP partner, said.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has a target of installing 15GW of offshore wind between 2026 and 2035. It has local manufacturing rules that require offshore wind farms to locally source foundations and turbine components equal to 60% of a project's capacity, according to consultancy Infolink.
