Ukrainian utility DTEK has announced plans to build a 127.5MW wind farm in Croatia – its first in the Balkan country.
The Ukrainian energy company, which continues to operate and build wind farms in Ukraine despite the ongoing war with Russia, said its EU-based subsidiary DRI would develop the onshore wind farm.
The Brda Umovi project is due to be built near Split in the Dalmatia region of Croatia. DTEK also plans to build a substation for the project.
The 127.5MW Brda Umovi project marks DRI’s entry into the Croatian market. It plans to establish a 500MW wind and solar portfolio in the country by 2028.
Construction is expected to start in the autumn of 2025, with first power expected in 2026.
Croatia is currently targeting meeting 36.4% of its energy demand from renewable sources by 2030.
