Microsoft signs power deals for European wind and solar

Technology giant Microsoft has signed a series of deals to buy electricity from wind and solar farms owned by Danish developer European Energy and Spanish oil major Repsol.

It will buy power from 180.6MW of wind and solar projects developed by European Energy in Denmark and Sweden, including the region’s first wind-solar hybrid project.

Some of the projects are already supplying power to Microsoft under long-term deals, but European Energy would not confirm which projects are included in the agreeements.

Meanwhile, Microsoft will also buy power from three Repsol wind farms and three solar parks in Spain with a combined capacity of 230MW.

The projects are due to be operational by December 2025.
