Manav Sharma was named as the new CEO of Nordex’s North American operations. He will take up the role on 1 June.
Sharma has worked at Nordex for four years, including in his current role as chief strategy and transformation officer. His previous experience includes seven years working with German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion.
He replaces John McComas, who has led the group’s operations in the region since 2021. McComas is taking on the newly-created position of chief operating officer in the region.
Sharma joins Nordex following the company’s announcement of its plans to develop a new turbine specifically tailored for the US wind market.
Nordex said it plans to announce a wind turbine with an “optimised capacity factor for US project conditions, designed to significantly increase yield in pure grid constrained projects” as early as the middle of this year.
“With [Sharma] and his team leading the launch of our US turbine and accelerating the ongoing supply chain transformation, we will be well-positioned to benefit from expected growth in both the US and Canadian markets,” Nordex CEO Jose Luis Blanco said.
Nordex currently has over 7.4GW of capacity in installed turbines in the US.
