Vestas veteran to lead new renewables engineering firm

A team led by Vestas veterans will offer electrical engineering services for renewable energy as part of a newly launched company.

Scanel Green Energy – a new subsidiary of Danish offshore energy industry supplier Scanel International – will offer engineering services for wind, solar, power-to-x, electrical vehicle charging, biomass and storage.

It will be led by Torben Hvid Larsen, Scanel International’s chief operating officer, who previously worked at Vestas in various roles between 2004 and 2022, including an eight-year stint as chief technology officer at its MHI Vestas offshore wind joint venture with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

“Scanel Green Energy will support the energy transition long-term. We are here to stay. Our focus will be on delivering maximum value for each project, and doing it safely,” Larsen said.

Scanel added that its new renewables firm, which will be based in Aalborg, Denmark, had already signed onto projects involving Bladt Industries and Aarsleff.
