Denmark advances offshore wind projects

The Danish Energy Agency has advanced the proposals for two offshore wind farms in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, it opened the second public consultation on the plans for the 800-1,200MW Hesselø project.

It is seeking opinions on the strategic environmental assessment (SEA) of the plan for the development’s revised location in the Kattegat.

The consultation runs until 5 April 2024, after which the agency will, if necessary, update the plan accordingly.

The deadline for Hesselø’s full commissioning is by the end of 2029.

Meanwhile, the agency has also announced that it has approved the feasibility study report for the 160MW Lillebælt Syd.

It paves the way for developer Lillebælt Vind to proceed to the next steps in the application process.

The project is planned for a site in the Lillebælt strait between Funen and Jutland and could comprise 10-23 turbines.
