RES and BayWa have both reported making progress on a series of UK wind farms, amid a flurry of activity in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
RES’ 67.2MW Cairn Duhie project has been approved. The 16-turbine development is planned for a site in Nairnshire, northern Scotland.
Elsewhere in Scotland, EDF Renewables has completed the sale of three of its projects – the 25.8MW Camilty, 25.3MW Shelloch and 67.2MW Troston Loch – to Vantage RE. All three projects have permitting approvals in place.
Meanwhile, BayWa has completed financing for its £40 million (€46 million), up to 43.2MW Broken Cross project in South Lanarkshire.
And in the Scottish offshore wind sector, Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) – a consortium involving Deme, Qair and Aspiravi – has submitted the onshore scoping report for its Ayre offshore wind farm to The Highland Council. The 1GW Ayre project is planned for a site to the east of Orkney.
Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, NTR and Almac Group have signed a power purchase agreement (PA), linked to the six-turbine, 21.6MW Murley wind farm. It is expected to begin commercial operations in the second half of this year, when the PPA will commence.
