Siemens Gamesa secures key vessels for European offshore wind buildout

Siemens Gamesa has secured the supply of key vessels needed for it to install offshore wind turbines in the coming years.

It has entered into a three-year agreement with Integrated Wind Solutions (IWS), which will provide the turbine maker with its walk-to-work commissioning service operation vessels from 2025.

The vessel will support offshore wind turbine commissioning across Siemens Gamesa projects in northern Europe, IWS stated.

The minimum commitment under the charter agreement covers about 1,300 days with a revenue backlog of €51-55 million.

Integrated Wind Solutions has a first-right-of-refusal to provide more vessel capacity if Siemens Gamesa needs it.

Analysts have flagged a shortage of vessels needed to install and maintain the offshore wind capacity needed to be built to meet countries’ installation targets, with and WindEurope among those raising the alarm in recent years.
