Romania gives green light for country’s joint largest wind farm

Actis-backed Rezolv has secured permission to connect to the grid for a wind farm that is due to be Romania’s joint largest.

Along with co-developer Low Carbon, it aims to start bringing its 600MW Dunarea complex online from 2026.

The complex in Constanța county in the east of Romania, will have the same capacity as the country’s current largest operational wind farm – the Fântânele-Cogealac-Gradina complex, which is also in Constanța county.

The region near the Black Sea boasts “exceptional” wind resources and flat terrain, according to Rezolv Energy.

Rezolv and Low Carbon will sell the Dunarea wind cluster’s power to commercial and industrial users under long-term power purchase agreements.

Romania has just over 3GW of operational onshore wind capacity, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç
