Chinese firms to supply monopiles to 1.1GW Scottish offshore wind project

Two Chinese companies are in line to supply monopile foundations for the planned 1.1GW Inch Cape offshore wind complex currently being developed off the coast of Angus in the Scottish North Sea.

The project developers – Irish utility ESB and Scottish developer Red Rock Power –  have signed a capacity reservation agreement with Chinese offshore wind manufacturing companies Daijin Offshore and Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturing major China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

Daijin and Guangzhou Wenchong are due to supply Inch Cape with XXL monopile foundations, under the terms of the deal.

The Inch Cape complex – which will consist of three wind farms – will employ 72 Vestas V236-15.0 turbines according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
