A potential unexploded ordnance has been found close to the 1,075MW Seagreen 1 wind farm under construction off the east coast of Scotland in the North Sea.
A Seagreen spokesperson told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç its project team is currently investigating the possible explosive device which was found on the seabed site of the project.
The developer believes it is a 12-16 inch naval projectile, which could contain high explosives.
On 9 March, it called for other vessels and sea-users to observe a 500-metre safety zone while the item is formally identified, the spokesperson added.
However, the discovery has not altered the construction timeline for the project, the spokesperson added.
Seagreen 1 is currently being built 40km off Firth of Forth near Edinburgh in the Scottish North Sea.
The project is co-owned by Scottish energy company SSE and French oil major TotalEnergies. It is due to use 114 of Vestas' V164-10.0 turbines, and is due online in the second quarter of this year.
