Export cable contracts signed for Poland’s Baltyk II and III

A consortium of Jan De Nul Group and Hellenic Cables will design, manufacture, transport and install four 220kV HVAC export cables to connect Polish offshore wind farms Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III to shore.

Upon completion, the wind farms – developed by a joint venture of Equinor and Polenergia – will provide green electricity to more than two million households in Poland.

The two offshore wind projects, each with a capacity of 720MW, will be located in the Polish Baltic Sea and connect to the onshore grid via four HVAC submarine cables with a combined length of 256 kilometres.

Jan De Nul and Hellenic Cables recently announced their collaboration on RWE’s Thor project in Denmark and Tennet’s DolWin Kappa in Germany. The companies will execute the connection of the two Bałtyk wind farms to shore in 2026.

Hellenic Cables will design and manufacture the HVAC cables at its plant in Corinth, Greece. Jan De Nul will transport, install and bury the cables in the Baltic Sea.
