Oil major BP has hired former offshore wind chiefs from sector giant Ørsted and would-be market entrant Invenergy to lead its push in the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Yichun Xu – the former head of Ørsted’s Asia Pacific markets – has joined BP as the head of its Asia Pacific region.
Xu will oversee current partnerships in South Korea and look to grow a further pipeline of projects, BP’s senior vice president for offshore wind Matthias Bausenwein – himself a former Ørsted executive – announced on LinkedIn.
Meanwhile, BP has also hired Joshua Weinstein as head of offshore wind in the Americas region.
He will be responsible for US east coast projects the company is developing alongside fellow oil major Equinor, as well as, looking for future opportunities.
Weinstein previously spent four years as senior vice president of offshore development at US renewables developer Invenergy, which is looking to develop its first offshore wind projects through upcoming auctions in the US.
