Swiss energy firm Axpo has opened new offices in Vaasa as it announced plans to develop, build and operate its first wind farms in Finland.
It plans to acquire development projects at any stage and of any size and also initiate its own greenfield projects, it announced.
Axpo’s Finnish wind development business will be headed by managing director Joakim Ingves, who said the company has already had “positive preliminary discussions with a number of interested landowners and communities”.
Axpo already has an energy trading and project origination branch in Helsinki.
It aims to develop 3GW of onshore wind capacity in Europe by 2030.
