German manufacturer Nordex has secured a deal to supply turbines for two Scandinavian wind farms being developed by compatriots Wpd.
It will supply ten of its N163/6.X turbines to the 68MW Tomasliden wind farm in Västerbotten, northern Sweden, and seven of its N163/5.X turbines to the Oulainen wind farm in North Ostrobothnia, northern Finland.
All of the turbines will be cold-climate variants of Nordex’s N163 platform, meaning they can be operated in low temperatures. Such turbines are equipped with an anti-icing system preventing ice build-up on the blades.
The manufacturer will also service the wind farms for 15 years, though Wpd has an option to extend this contract by five years.
Construction is due to start in spring 2024.
