Vestas has received an order to supply, install and commission 38 of its V162-6.2MW turbines equipped with anti-icing systems for Finnish developer Suomen Hyötytuuli’s 236MW Siikajoki wind complex in North Ostrobothnia in Finland.
Siikajoki is located approximately 50km south of Oulu in the North Ostrobothnia region, and consists of three wind farms: Karhukangas, Kangastuuli and Navettakangas.
Vestas’ anti-icing system will be used to remove ice from the turbine blades during operation to maximise energy production.
The delivery and installation of the wind turbines are expected to start in the second quarter of 2024 with the commissioning scheduled for the third and fourth quarter of 2024.
Vestas has also secured a 203MW order from the US for 45 of its V150-4.5 MW turbines. The customer and the project are undisclosed.
