Irish energy utility Energia Group has agreed to supply Microsoft with renewable energy from wind and solar assets for the software company’s Irish operations under a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA).
The agreement - which will see the construction of onshore wind and solar power projects across Ireland - is part of Microsoft’s wider plan to contribute close to 30% of the country’s CPPA target by 2030.
The tech giant has pledged that its data centres in Ireland will be supported by 100% renewable energy by 2025.
