Irish offshore wind specialist Simply Blue Group and wind-wave energy company Marine Power Systems plan to bid for a 100MW project in the UK’s innovation and targeted oil and gas (INTOG) seabed leasing round.
The partners plan to install six 16MW-plus turbines on Marine Power Systems’ PelaFlex floating platform – a steel, lightweight tetrahedral platform designed for fast assembly – with a combined capacity of 100MW.
Through the INTOG auction – which closes in November – bidders can propose innovation sites to develop knowledge for the scale-up of floating offshore wind, or larger sites to power oil and gas platforms in Scottish waters.
