Crown Estate Scotland opens registration for seabed leasing round

Seabed landlord Crown Estate Scotland has opened registration for its Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round.

A two-week registration window opens today followed later this month by the opening of the application window, which will close in November. Applicants will be notified of the leasing results by the end of March 2023.

The leasing round, which Crown Estate Scotland trailed earlier this year, is split into two parts.

Under the scheme, bidders can propose innovation sites to develop knowledge for the scale-up of floating offshore wind, or larger targeted oil and gas sites - providing power to oil and gas platforms around Scotland’s coastline.

Crown Estate Scotland said the “pioneering” leasing round will help meet emissions reduction targets agreed by the government and the industry in the ‘North Sea Transition Deal’ in which offshore wind will play a major role.
