Service provider Renew Energy is to build a new facility in Enid, Oklahoma to remanufacture wind turbine drivetrains at facilities across the southern United States.
With a maximum of 7MW, the facility will have the largest capacity in North America in terms of the size of turbines it can handle, Renew claimed.
Its facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota can handle turbines up to 3MW. Rather than transporting to and from the facility, the turbines will be serviced entirely on-site.
“It’s right in the heart of wind projects and wind farms, so it really puts us in a great location for servicing multiple asset owners, as well as OEMs at this location,” said chief operating officer Travis Harkins.
