Dublin-based floating offshore wind platform developer Gazelle Wind Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UAE-based firm Ferrofab FZE to manufacture Gazelle’s hybrid modular offshore wind platform at Ferrofab’s Jebel Ali facility, 40km south-west of Dubai.
Ferrofab has extensive engineering and manufacturing experience in the wind, oil and gas industries. Executive director Johan Moraes said Gazelle’s innovative design represents “a revolutionary step in the production of renewable energy”.
Gazelle raised $4 million last August to accelerate development of its three-legged platform that combines features from tension-leg and semi-submersible designs to achieve a lighter and more agile platform that enables faster deployment in deeper waters.
