Scandinavian wind markets boost GE, Nordex and Siemens Gamesa in March

Turbine manufacturers announce agreements in Scandinavia during March totalling more than 680MW

Several turbine purchase agreements (TPAs) related to Swedish projects were reported in March, benefitting GE, Nordex and Siemens Gamesa in particular.

GE agreed to supply 24 Cypress turbines to the 146MW Klevberget project in Ånge. They will each provide 6.1MW. Installation will commence in Q2 2023, with the turbines scheduled to be fully commissioned and operational in the second half of 2023. GE will then provide service for 35 years.

Eolus announced that it had signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa, regarding 12 SG 6.6-170 turbines for the 79.2MW Skallberget-Utterberget and four for the 26.4MW Tjärnäs projects. Their commissioning is planned for Q4 2023.

And Vestas reported an order, for Octopus Renewables’ newly acquired 32MW Marhult project in Uppvidinge, near Växjö. Developed by OX2, it will comprise seven V150-4.5 MW turbines.

The Finnish market has also been buoyant of late, with more than 400MW-worth of deals being reported last month.

Nordex agreed to supply 57 N163/5.X turbines to Valorem for the 165MW Kalistanneva and 148.5MW Matkussaari . Set to comprise 30 and 27 turbines respectively, they form the larger Viiatti development.

The turbines will each provide 5.5MW, with delivery and installation scheduled for 2024. Nordex will then provide service for 35 years.

Finally, Vestas reported a 93MW order, for an undisclosed project in Finland that will comprise 15 V162-6.2 MW turbines. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023, with commissioning following by the fourth quarter.
