Swedish developer Eolus Vind and Norwegian counterpart Hydro Rein have agreed to acquire a fully permitted 260MW wind farm in east-central Sweden.
They will buy the 260MW Stor-Skälsjön project from Enercon for €17 million. The buyers will also pay the German manufacturer for construction works at the site.
Following completion of the transaction — which an Eolus spokesman said is expected “soon” — Eolus will own 51% of the project and Hydro Rein the remaining 49%.
They plan to divest the majority of the project shares and to start the sales process this summer. Eolus intends to sell its full share, the spokesman added.
Supplier contracts are due to be signed this autumn, according to Eolus.
Grid connection is planned for summer 2021, ahead of project commissioning in the second half of 2023.
Previous owner Enercon has already started building internal roads, and the two Nordic companies are due to carry out further civil works
Hydro Reins aims to invest in 1GW of renewable projects in the Nordics by the end of the year. It recently teamed up with Equinor and RWE Renewables to bid for a fixed-bottom offshore wind farm in the Sørlige Nordsjø II area of the Norwegian North Sea.
Parent company Hydro Energy has extensive experience in building large-scale hydropower projects.
