Ex-SGRE finance chief Mesonero joins Iberdrola

David Mesonero, the former chief financial officer at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), has joined Spanish utility Iberdrola.

Mesonero will serve as the deputy to Iberdrola鈥檚 director of business development, Pedro Azagra.聽

He left the turbine manufacturer at the end of March after ten years with the firm.

鈥淭his appointment demonstrates Iberdrola's continued commitment to growth in the renewable energy sector, and David has been an expert in this sector for over a decade with his work at Siemens Gamesa,鈥 an Iberdrola spokesperson said.

During his time at the manufacturer, he was responsible for merging Siemens and Gamesa,聽reduced gross debt by more than $1 billion in less than a year, helped the company secure investment grade credit ratings, and oversaw the acquisition of Senvion听补蝉蝉别迟蝉.

Meanwhile, Iberdrola expects to invest 鈧10 billion this year 鈥 up from 鈧8.15 billion in 2019.

In February, Iberdrola sold its stake in SGRE, claiming the manufacturer was becoming less strategically important.
