Mesonero to quit SGRE

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy鈥檚 (SGRE) chief financial officer (CFO) David Mesonero will leave the company at the end of March.

David Mesonero has been Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy's chief financial officer since October 2018

The manufacturer鈥檚 chief accountant Thomas Spannring will take on the role on an interim basis while the company searches for a full-time replacement.

SGRE did not explain Mesonero鈥檚 reason for leaving.

Mesonero had only served as CFO since October 2018, but has been with Siemens Gamesa for ten years.

During his time at the manufacturer, he had served as a managing director for corporate development and strategy and as chief integration officer, taking responsibility for merging Siemens and Gamesa.

As CFO, he oversaw the reduction of gross debt by more than 鈧1 billion in less than a year while amending and extending loan facilities, and SGRE鈥檚 acquisition of Senvion.

SGRE also secured investment grade credit ratings from three leading financing service companies, indicating its ability to repay issued debt in May 2019. Mesonero claimed this was a first for a wind turbine manufacturer.

The company鈥檚 CEO Markus Tacke said: 鈥David has played a pivotal role in the development of Siemens Gamesa and I would like to thank him for the huge contribution he has made.聽

鈥淗e leaves with strong foundations for a successful future and I wish him the very best in his future challenges.鈥澛

Mesonero added: 鈥淚 believe the company is in a healthy position to lead the energy transition and I鈥檓 confident it will build on strong foundations and drive future success.
