The German manufacturer will supply 13 E-136 EP5 turbines rated at 4.65MW to the site in the north of the country, near Eemshaven port.
Developer Waddenwind expects the project to be fully commissioned in early 2021. It is being backed by local farmers and landowners.
Construction is due to start in the summer of 2020, using the self-climbing crane developed by Lagerwey before the Dutch manufacturer was taken over by Enercon in late 2017.
Lagerwey carried out tests of the climbing crane at a site at the Port of Eemshaven in 2017.
It can install each segment of the tower, climbing it as it goes, before adding the nacelle, hub and blades.
It removes the need for a large and suitable base around the bottom of the turbine for heavy, conventional cranes.
The E-136 was previously Lagerwey’s L136 4.5MW turbine but has since been optimised, renamed, and entered into serial production under Enercon.
