Prospective developers will be invited to bid into an auction with projects greater than 20MW in capacity.
From 2023, developers with sites larger than 3MW or with more than one turbine will bid for government support.
Bidders with the lowest €/kWh price will be offered 20-year Feed-in Tariff contracts by the state. It is believed a shift to an auction process will attract overseas investment into the country.
The current €110/MWh green tariff paid to existing projects will be the starting point in the first auction.
The changes in the law were signed by former president Petro Poroshenko days before he left office.
