Andhra Pradesh launches new wind-solar-storage tender

Two power distribution companies in Andhra Pradesh have launched a tender for 600MW of wind-solar hybrid projects with energy storage.

Hero Future Energies commissioned India's first wind-solar hybrid site in Karnataka in 2018

Andhra Pradesh’s Southern Power and Eastern Power Distribution Companies aim to sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with winning developers.

Projects must be a minimum of 200MW with the smaller resource at least 25% the capacity of the other, with the addition of a storage element, .

Initial bids must be submitted by 18 March, while financial bids have a deadline of 25 March.

The tender launch comes after the state government offered wind and hybrid projects intra-state open access and set a target of 18GW of renewable energy capacity by the financial year 2021-22.

Andhra Pradesh's auction announcement also follows hybrid tenders at state and national level.

India's first hybrid tender for 1.2GW was undersubscribed last year, the Solar Energy Corporation of India launched a 160MW auction for Andhra Pradesh in August, and Maharashtra opened its own wind-solar hybrid tender in January.
