Nordex increasing Argentina production

Turbine manufacturer Nordex has agreed with Fábrica Argentina de Avione to establish a nacelle and hub assembly plant in Córdoba, central Argentina.

Nordex's new assembly line Argentina is due to begin production in 2019

The plant will be used to assemble Nordex's AW132/3300 turbines due to be installed in projects being developed by AES Argentina Generación.

It is due to begin operations in 2019.

In the last two years, Nordex received 600MW of orders in Argentina, CEO José Luis Blanco said.

"We are convinced that the market has enormous potential.

"The authorities have done great work by launching the RenovAR and MATER [support] programmes in order to create the preconditions for this growth market.

"Today there are several gigawatts under construction.

"Our local production plant here is a first step: in the coming years we plan to further localise the supply chain in order to meet national requirements. So this will mean even more jobs for the Argentinian industry," Blanco added.

Nordex is also planning two concrete tower plants in Argentina, allowing it to increase its local content to 36%, the company added.
