Siemens Gamesa wins first Russian order

RUSSIA: Siemens Gamesa will supply 26 turbines to Enel's Russian subsidiary for a 90MW project -- the manufacturer's first order in the country.

Siemens Gamesa will supply Enel Russia with 26 units of its SG 3.4-132 model

It will provide Enel Russia with its SG 3.4-132 turbines for the 90MW Azovskaya wind farm in south-western Russia.

The order builds on a preliminary agreement the two companies signed in 2017 for 291MW of turbines to be supplied at two Russian wind farms. Enel had won the capacity in a tender in June of that year.

Part of the turbine components will be locally procured and assembled in accordance with Russia’s localisation requirements, Siemens Gamesa stated.

Russian wind farms must include 65% local content, and 44% of turbine materials must be sourced locally, according to the Russian Association of the Wind Power Industry (RAWI).

Siemens Gamesa is one of several manufacturers setting up production facilities in Russia.

It signed a cooperation agreement with Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies to assemble wind turbine nacelles in the outskirts of St Petersburg in September.

Turbines are due to be delivered and installed at Azovskaya in 2020, and the project is due to be commissioned that same year.
