Enel plans further capacity in Russia

RUSSIA: Enel, together with nuclear firm and Rosatom subsidiary VetroOGK, plans to build up to 400MW of wind power capacity in Stavropol, southern Russia.

Enel has signed a new agreement to install wind capacity in Russia

The minister of energy, industry and communication for the Stavropol regional government, Vitaly Hotsenko, said completion of the project is scheduled for the second half of 2022.

The authorities of the region have already promised investors to provide land and other necessary infrastructure for their projects.

Enel’s new projects follows the 291MW it secured in Russia’s first tender in June 2017. Enel is developing two projects from the tender: a 90MW site in Rostov, southern Russia; and a 201MW site in the Murmansk region in the north-west of the country.

This is the second large-scale wind project power announced by VetroOGK in the past couple of months.

In February 2018, the company signed an agreement with the authorities of the Russian Rostov region for the building of 200MW of new capacity in wind farms in the Temryuk and Yeisk districts of the region.

The volume of investments is estimated at RUB 20.5 billion ($300 million). Commissioning of the plants is scheduled for 2020.
