The EN148-4.5MW turbine is the latest evolution of the manufacturer’s 4MW platform, first developed for the Chinese offshore sector in 2013.

Envision also revealed details of the EN140-3.0MW, aimed at low wind speed markets, and the EN131-2.5MWs.

Head of International Sales Daniel Luecht told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç the company would be looking to use the turbines at its own projects as well as selling them to other developers.

"We have not really done that before," he said.

"We are focusing on bringing out turbines into our own projects, being able to bring down the LCOE [levelised cost of energy] and then standardise the sales process."

All three turbines are equipped with sensor controls to optimise performance and energy output – and ultimately bringing down the LCOE, Luecht said.

The EN148-4.5MW’s 148-metre rotor and flexible nominal capacity maximise energy capture in medium- to high-wind speeds of up to 9m/s, Envision said.

The new machine was developed with markets such as Mexico and Argentina in mind, Luecht said.

Envision plans to pitch the EN131-2.5MW turbine to India, said Luecht. If the "feedback is positive" from upcoming auctions, the manufacturer will "extend the footprint" of its 2MW class in the country, he added.

Prototypes of the three turbines will be installed in China and Denmark early next year.
