The Wind Catcher site is located in Oklahoma's panhandle region and is expected to be fully online in 2020.
It forms part of the Wind Catcher Energy Connection infrastucture project, which includes a 563-kilometre high-voltage transmission line between the project and the more populated east Oklahoma region.
"American Electric Power utility subsidiaries Public Service Co. of Oklahoma (PSO) and Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) are asking utility regulators in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma to approve plans to purchase the wind farm from Invenergy upon completion of construction and to build the power line to serve PSO and SWEPCO's more than 1.1 million customers," Invenergy said.
Invenergy CEO Michael Polsky said: "Wind Catcher shows American leadership in bringing low-cost clean energy to market at giga scale."
