BlackRock acquires two UK projects

UK: Fund manager BlackRock has acquired two "shovel-ready" power projects from local developer REG Power Management.

Through its Renewable Income UK fund, BlackRock has acquired the 13MW Hallburn project in Cumbria, northwest England, and the 6MW Pen Bryn Oer wind farm in southeast Wales.

Both projects are expected online in 2018 and have support through the UK's Renewable Obligations Certificate system, BlackRock said.

"BlackRock... has a total invested portfolio of approximately 2.6GW of generating capacity across wind and solar projects located in the US, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Sweden, Norway, France and the UK," the company said.

Hallburn was granted approval by UK authorities in 2014 and is expected to use six Gamesa G90 2MW turbines, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.

Pen Bryn Oer was granted permission in August 2015, following an appeal. It is set to utilise three Vestas V90 2MW turbines, “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence states.
