Nordex grows share of German market

GERMANY: Nordex is celebrating a year of impressive growth in its domestic market, which itself showed a 24% rise in new installed capacity in 2016 over the previous year.

Nordex accounted for nearly 15% of Germany's new wind installations in 2016

Nordex installed 691MW from 267 turbines in Germany last year, compared with 437MW from 176 machines in 2015.

The company’s share of the very competitive market grew from 11.7% in 2015 to 14.9% last year.

Nordex’s success was most pronounced in the low-wind sector, with more than 40% of its turbines installed in the southern states of Bavaria, Baden-Wüttemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

Further growth in Germany is expected this year. "We will achieve a new installation record thanks to the strong order intake in 2016," said Jörg Hempel, head of Nordex’s German business.
