AGL to build 200MW site in New South Wales

AUSTRALIA: AGL Energy has announced the 200MW Silverton project is set to go ahead after it was sold to a local energy fund.

AGL's portfolio includes the 420MW Macarthur project

The Powering Australian Renewables Fund (PARF) is a partnership between AGL, fund manager QIC and a government sovereign wealth fund.

AGL has also named a joint venture of GE and local infrastructure firm Catcon as the successful tenderer for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

The 58-turbine project is planned for a site in the west of New South Wales and is due to be fully operational by mid-2018.

"The Silverton wind farm project is PARF's first greenfield renewable development, which further strengthens AGL's credentials as Australia's largest investor, developer and operator of renewables," said Silverton project manager Adam Mackett.

Catcon was previously contracted to perform balance of plant civil works at AGL's Hornsdale wind project in South Australia in 2016.
