It was the first project to sign a deal for Vestas V112 3MW turbines, which are designed for medium wind speeds.
Vestas CEO Ditlev Engel said: "Australia is now enjoying the benefits of large-scale clean energy investment and jobs, thanks to its renewable energy target.
"Bipartisan support for this policy is a crucial element in creating the long-term business certainty to make billion dollar investments like the Macarthur project a reality."
Australia's installed wind capacity stood at 2.6GW at the end of 2012, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç's Windicator. This figure is set to jump by 30% in 2013 as a number of large projects are expected to come online, including the 168MW Musselroe project in Tasmania, an island state south of Victoria.
