Third Australian order for Vestas in four weeks

AUSTRALIA: Vestas has been awarded another Australian order, this time from CWP Renewables joint venture for the 270MW Sapphire project in New South Wales.

Vestas will supply its V126 turbine to the Sapphire project in New South Wales

Vestas will act as engineering, procurement and supply (EPC) contractor for the project in eastern Australia. The firm will work with local contractor Zenviron.

The Danish manufacturer will also deliver 75 V126 turbines uprated to produce 3.6MW output. Installation and completion is scheduled for 2018. Vestas will also service the turbines for a minimum of ten years, it said.

CWP is a joint venture between Continental Wind Partners and the Wind Prospect group. It claims to have developed 4.2GW of wind power across 20 countries.

In New South Wales, the JV is developing four sites totalling almost 1.2GW of installed capacity.

It is the third time in four weeks Vestas has announced orders from down under.

On 14 November, the manufacturer won a 30MW deal from developer Windlab for the Kiata wind project using V126-3.45MW.

Then on 30 November, Vestas said it had won a contract from Ratch Australia to supply the 180MW Mt Emerald project in north Queensland. The company will supply a mixture of V112 and V117 3.45MW turbines for the site.
