Siemens will supply 64 2.3MW turbines with a 108-metre rotor for the Grant Plains project in Grant County, northern Oklahoma.
It is the third Apex project in Oklahoma for Siemens, following the 151.8MW Grant Wind and 299MW Kay Wind projects, which were both completed in the last 12 months and equipped with the 2.3MW turbine.
According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, the Grant Plains project has power purchase agreements with the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority and office furniture company Steelcase.
Following the turbine deal, Apex sold the project to utility Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company.
"The acquisition of the Grant Plains wind facility is an important step in strategically growing our renewable energy portfolio," said Southern Power CEO Buzz Miller.
