Ramboll acquires onshore consultancies

DENMARK: Danish engineering consultancy and design firm Ramboll has acquired two German wind consultancies as it expands its onshore offering.

Ramboll has up until now focussed its activities more towards offshore wind

Ramboll has acquired German firms BBB Umwelttechnik and Cube Engineering, including their 85 employees.

"With the acquisition of BBB and Cube, we will become a one-stop-shop player within onshore wind with a full-service offering within the value chain of wind energy projects and sufficient resources to take on large wind projects," said Ramboll Energy managing director Thomas Rand.

Ramboll had previously focused its activities towards the offshore wind sector. It claimed to have designed 65% of offshore wind foundations installed to date.

The two absorbed consultancies have offices in Germany and Brazil, Ramboll said.

BBB Umwelttechnik was also part of the four-company consortium that set up the for offshore wind in October 2014.
