ERG Renew CEO steps down

ITALY: Massimo Derchi has resigned from his position as managing director of Italian renewables developer ERG Renew to pursue interests away from the company.

ERG Renew holds a 13% share of Italian's wind market

Derchi had been in the role for five years and has worked for the ERG group since 2005.

ERG Renew owns just over 1.1GW of operating capacity in Italy, with a 13% share of the market. Across Europe, ERG operates more than 1.7GW of wind, including France, Germany, Poland, Romania, the UK and Bulgaria, according to the company.

In October 2015, it acquired 15 wind projects in France and Germany totalling 206MW from Impax Asset Management for around €297 million.

In February 2016, the developer entered the UK wind market, acquiring the fully permitted 45MW Brockaghboy project in Northern Ireland from TCI Renewables. ERG Renew expects to start construction in the second quarter of this year and complete it at the end of the first quarter in 2017 using Vestas V90-3MW turbines.

ERG Group CEO Luca Bettonte has been named as the renewable arm's new managing director to replace Derchi. ERG Renew's strategic director Pietro Tittoni has been appointed chief operating officer.
