Acquisition of the windturbines-marketplace.com portal gives wind-turbine.com access to some 2,300 international and active customers "who have shown special customer-loyalty to the Dutch online market place since 2009," WIV said.

Customers include Vestas, Siemens and Enercon, which are often also represented by their foreign subsidiaries in the portal, according to the German company.

Other active online customers include large and medium-sized European energy utilities, project developers, operation and maintenance businesses, engineering offices as well as service providers from Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, India, UK, Canada and the US, it said.

According to the company, the merged marketplace will have more than 4,700 wind turbines, components, services and projects on offer monthly for some 20,000 potential customers from about 200 countries.

Around 1,800 providers put new and second-hand wind turbines online, or use the service to present products from the supplier sector, and services ranging from project development to logistics, WIV added.
