UNITED STATES: White goods manufacturer Whirlpool is adding to its wind power generation by installing four Goldwind turbines at two additional Ohio factories.

Three Goldwind 1.5MW turbines will be installed at its Marion plant in northwest Ohio. The fourth turbine of the same type will be installed at its Ottawa factory, also in north west Ohio.

Whirlpool has committed to investing $13.5 million in the turbines which will help power their plants from 2017.

The turbines at the Marion plant totalling 4.5MW will supply 19% of its power, the firm said. The one 1.5MW turbine at the Ottawa site will contribute 34% of the factory's electricity needs.
