The US arm of the Chinese manufacturer said once operational, the 160MW project will be its largest in the US.
The site will comprie 64 Goldwind 2.5MW turbines and is due online in 2017, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç. RES will construct the project under a balance of plant agreement.
Goldwind's project, located 200 kilometres north-west of Austin, is the first phase of a 300MW site being developed by RES Americas.
"This investment in the Rattlesnake wind project highlights our long-term commitment to the US wind market and represents our first step of a five-year growth strategy to capitalise on the extension of the production tax credit," said Goldwind Americas CEO David Halligan.
Goldwind Americas launched a 2.5MW turbine aimed at the low-wind Americas market in February 2015.
The US government approved a five-year extension to the PTC in December, giving long-term certainty and support to projects that begin construction before the end of 2019.
